4.2 PH INDICATION TESTS
NOTE
The following test results will be invalid unless the ambient temperature of the TI can be maintained within
69 to 77 degrees F.
4.2.1 Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 1. (Remove the BNC shorting connector or G.E. shorting plug). Connect
the temperature probe plug to the TI small input connector adjacent to the input connector.
4.2.2 Set the TI controls as specified on the applicable checklist. Standardize TI to a display reading of 7.00. This is to be
done with zero volts applied to the input connector and the slope control at 100.
4.2.3 Adjust the DC millivolt source output to obtain each of the values on the applicable checklist. (For negative outputs,
reverse the leads connected to the DC millivolt source output terminals). Verify that the TI indications are within the limits
specified.
4.2.4 Set the DC millivolt source for zero output and disconnect from the TI.
4.3 PH CALIBRATION TESTS
4.3.1 Connect the appropriate ATC temperature probe (item 2.8) to the TI. Ensure that any temperature sensor is plugged
into the TI ph electrode, where applicable.
NOTE
Some TIs utilize manual temperature compensation only. In such cases, no ATC temperature probe is
required.
4.3.2 Connect the applicable pH electrode (item 2.7) to the appropriate input connector of the TI.
CAUTION
AVOID HANDLING THE TI ELECTRODE MEMBRANE. ANY DAMAGE TO ITS SURFACE CAUSED
BY ABRASION WILL LEAD TO INACCURACY AND SLOW RESPONSE.
CAUTION
DO NOT USE STANDARD PREMIXED BUFFER SOLUTIONS (ITEM 2.6) AFTER THE EXPIRATION
DATE SHOWN ON THE LABEL AND DO NOT POUR SOLUTIONS BACK INTO THE BOTTLE.
4.3.3 Place the TI electrode into the 7.00 pH standard premixed buffer (item 2.6).
NOTE
The TI electrode has a typical shelf life of approximately one year. IF the TI electrode has aged beyond this
point or is defective, pH calibration may be impossible. In this case, the TI electrode should be replaced and
the pH calibration performed.
